A is for Ambrosia at….Dolci Galleria

Part of the myth is that if the Greek gods did not eat ambrosia, they become weak.

Well, we were feeling weak and tired from shopping, so we got ourselves ambrosia at:

Dolci Galleria

Dolci Galleria on Urbanspoon

Opening hours: Tue – Sun: 11:00 – 15:30, 19:30 – 22:00

Price range: around $5 – 18

Dolci Galleria opened its sweet doors a couple of months ago in March 2013. I tried to spot it many times whilst driving past but failed miserably as it is hidden in a stretch of stores! It sits right next to Cannelle French Pastries and My Friend Louis but we’ll talk about those ones another time.
We only had 15 – 20 minutes before we had to get to our next meeting, but we took the plunge and went in anyways. We were greeted by a tempting range of cake slices displayed. Prices are very reasonable ranging from about $5.00 – $10.00. It is a good relief from other places where desserts find themselves with a obscure price tags.
We proceeded to order a couple of cakes and beverages from the nice lady, who didn’t  introduce herself, so I’m not sure if she was the owner or not! She appears to be Cantonese as she was speaking with other Cantonese customers.
A copy of the newspaper was on the table – providing a useful source of entertainment whilst waiting for our orders. Service was very efficient but I’ll put it down to us being the only customers!
Our ambrosia:
Belgium Hot Chocolate

The temperature was perfect for consuming (cooled down in a few minutes) and the sprinkle of cocoa made it pleasing to the eye. Flavour was quite good, not as rich as some other places, but enough in its own right.
I also loved the glass it came in too -bonus points.

Vienna Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream

Vienna Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream

The Vienna Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream was thoroughly enjoyed, with exclaims of  “This cream is so yumm!” and I almost didn’t even get to try some!

Pistachio Financier

The Pistachio Financier – Dark chocolate sponge topped with milk chocolate mousse, Pistachio mousse & white chocolate ganache.

I personally don’t like pistachio flavour but the others enjoyed it…whilst I stole the chocolate base and the beautiful delicious chocolate wrapped around the cake !

Mango Crunch

Mango Crunch – fragrantly mango – smooth and tasty! I only stole a spoonful but I do recommend for mango lovers 🙂

Overall, a cosy little place perfect to get out of the winters’ cold to warm up over a hot drink and cake. I heard there is also high tea, warm desserts and more on the menu to. You know what this means…
I’m going to have to visit again for some more ambrosia to keep me strong! We grade this place a B+ for our experience!
